Microsoft Office Visio 2010 is the newest version of Microsoft's diagramming application. Whether you're using Visio for the first time, or have been using it for years, this introductory course will help you make the most of Visio’s exciting features.

Highlights of the course include a complete review of the new ribbon-based interface, plus a complete walkthrough of creating your own ribbon tabs. We will also explore how to set up a new diagram, creating a basic diagram, using the new Auto Connect feature, and accessing Visio’s many templates and sample diagrams.

Starting Out
To begin, participants will learn the basics of Visio: how to open and close it, how to use the interface, how to create a basic diagram, how to save and open drawings, and how to get help. We’ll also look at the new Backstage View.

Understanding and Customizing the Visio Interface
Next, participants will closely examine the ribbon interface, including the Quick Access Toolbar and the various interface elements. Participants will also learn how to customize the ribbon.

Overview of the Command Tabs
This section will give participants an introduction to each command tab. This section is intended to familiarize participants with various tabs so that they can easily find commands in the new interface.

Creating Diagrams
In this section, participants will learn how to start a diagram with a template, use basic editing commands, and set up and use guides. We will also explore how to edit, format, and arrange shapes.

Doing More with Diagrams
Now that participants have some basic Visio skills, we will look at some additional diagram tasks. Our topics will include formatting text with the Home tab, using the Text dialog, creating and modifying text blocks, and working with freeform shapes.

Printing and Viewing Your Publication
This final section will teach participants about viewing a diagram in various ways, using zoom tools, applying finishing touches (such as spell check), working with themes, using the Page Setup dialog, and printing or e-mailing a diagram.
